If you’re in search of new dock seals, Raymond West has a wide spectrum of options for nearly any requirement.

Dock seals allow you to maintain a consistent environment on your loading dock and shield products from weather as they move in and out of your warehouse.

Are dock seals really needed? Consider the following advantages:

  • Energy preservation: Dock seals can yield substantial cost savings by slashing your warehouse’s heating and cooling expenditures.
  • Safety: wet concrete is slick and dangerous. Defending your dock against the elements makes it a much safer place to be.
  • Morale: no one relishes working in inclimate weather like snow or rain. The morale, productivity and comfort of your workers will be enhanced if you add door seals.
  • Cargo protection: Seals keep rodents and other vermin away from your building while defending it against the elements.
  • Peace of mind: Seals help keep unauthorized people out of your building.
  • Temporary storage: trailers at your dock can serve as temporary, secure, climate-controlled expansions your facility.

Dock Seals Come in a Variety of Different Designs

Dock seals are usually fabric-wrapped foam panels that are mounted on the outside of your dock door frames. When a trailer pushes against it, the foam gets squeezed, forming a firm seal that keeps the weather out. Seals are typically applied to smaller door openings, and they can limit air flow on your dock with about 90% efficiency.

Fixed Head Dock Seal: Foam side and head pads are applied in this style of dock seal. For applications with uniform truck heights and standard dock requirements, it's one of the most widely used and effective dock seals.

Head Curtain Dock Seal: This kind of dock seal is employed when your facility has a lot of variation in trailer heights and opening heights. It has foam-filled side pads. A stationary or adjustable fabric head curtain sized for specific trailer types is common for the seal. Optional foam-filled curtains can create a more airtight seal and increase its energy efficiency.

Adjustable Head Pad: Once popular, this type of seal is no longer in demand due to advances in seal technology. This seal, similar in use to a "Head Curtain," is ideal for wide ranging trailer heights and door dimensions.

L-Shaped Dock Seal: This seal has “L” shaped side pads, as the name implies. The seal's shape and extended overhang make it ideal for bigger door dimensions. The shape and extended overhang are engineered to seal the trailer's sides as opposed to the back. This enables enhanced entry and exit to the trailer's back end. A “curtain” or “fixed head” header can be employed on this type of seal.

Inflatable Seal: When a trailer arrives at a loading dock bay, the inflatable seal enlarges with the help of a blower. These seals are typically a component of an interlock solution with the leveler and door, and will inflate only when the door and dock leveler are in the appropriate positions. Inflatable seals come in a host of sizes and shapes.
